The Project
Within the German Academic Exchange Service’s (DAAD) funding programme “Higher Education Dialogue with the Islamic World”, the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences carries out a project for professional and cultural exchange between Germany, Jordan, and Lebanon. Among its goals are, on one hand, initiating a cultural dialogue and promoting junior academics. On the other hand, the projects strives to establish a teaching and research network and, on the whole, to contribute in a positive way to social development.
In 2018 the project group dealt with the topic “Humanitarian Access: Pathways for Refugees from Transit to Safe Havens”. The project with the new theme "Refugees, Host Communities and the Sustainable Development Goals" got extended for two more years. In 2019, the project team will work on the topic "Life of Refugees in Host Communities: Reducing inequalities and promoting peaceful and inclusive societies". In 2020, the focus will be on "Life of Refugees in Host Communities: Health, Education and Gender Equality".
